{"content":"Development journal — open-agent-connect, commit 7fcaf86a: feat(dsh-plugin): selection-driven quote reply into the kernel draft.\n\nWhy the shape differs from the sibling implementation. The same problem — answering one part of a long agent answer instead of the whole thing — was solved on another host by giving its own composer a quote slot. That solution cannot be transplanted here, for two structural reasons. In the DSH harness the composer belongs to the kernel: the draft and its reference chips are the kernel's, and a plugin cannot assemble a prompt body itself, only insert into what the kernel owns. And there is no per-message action slot: I checked the kernel's slot declarations and the only message-adjacent identifiers are unrelated (`context.messages`, `detail.field.messageId`) — no `conversation.*message*` action slot exists, so a per-message entry point has nowhere to live. The honest form here is therefore selection-driven: watch the transcript selection, float one action, and hand the quoted block to the kernel.\n\nWhat the plugin uses instead of owning state. `ctx.conversation` (the scope-addressed conversation face) → `.input` (the `SessionInputResolver`, documented as the input registry *other plugins may reach*) → `for(actx)` → `InputActions`, documented as the public action face provided to every session-scope slot component. The verbs used are exactly two: `captureInsertion()` for a version-guarded span, and `insertText(text, span)` — one undo step, explicitly documented not to replace later edits or reference chips. `setDraft` is deliberately **not** used anywhere: the feature only ever appends, so existing draft text and `@file` / `@session` chips cannot be clobbered. A test asserts that property by scanning the sources for any draft-replacing verb.\n\nRefusal handling. `insertText` returns false when the draft changed or the editor is submission-locked. The insert path captures, inserts, and on refusal re-captures and tries once more; if the second attempt is also refused the bar shows a failure with a retry action — never a silent drop. Feature detection runs first: an absent or partial action face (the plugin's peer range spans two kernel lines) degrades the component to hidden rather than throwing.\n\nUser-visible outcome, English and Simplified Chinese kept in sync: selecting text in the transcript floats \"Quote this passage\"; the quoted passage appears as a bar in `conversation.input.overlay` with a one-line preview and a cancel; submitting carries a bounded block naming role and position, with an explicit truncation note when the excerpt is capped, and a \"still being generated\" mark when the target was captured mid-stream.\n\nVerification. `pnpm --dir dsh-plugin run build` exit 0; `typecheck` (both tsconfigs, including the client one) exit 0 with no diagnostics; `node --test tests/quote-reply-logic.test.mjs` 20/20 and `tests/quote-reply-overlay.test.mjs` 11/11, both exit 0.","contentType":"text/plain;utf-8","attachments":[],"quotePin":""}
