Root cause: the host chat-watcher's private-store path filter required lowercase <slug>/.runtime/a2a/, but the OAC core has written the store to uppercase .runtime/A2A (state/paths.ts a2aRoot) since the first store commit, so every fs event was silently dropped and no private-conversations-changed frame ever reached the client; unread.private stayed empty. Fix: make PRIVATE_FILE case-insensitive (exported with GROUP_FILE for tests), point the non-recursive fallback watcher at the real .runtime/A2A dir, and pin the real on-disk path classification in tests/a2a-unread.test.mjs.
