Two reasons the first sentence never came fast: effort 'low' still runs a reasoning pass before any text, and the prompt didn't force text-before-tools. Fixes: (1) assistant-mode reasoning-effort fallback is now 'off' in both resolution chains (session/brain overrides still win); (2) the opening rule in the assistant-mode system prompt now uses the DS Bot battle-tested phrasing: for multi-step requests write ONE short sentence of reply text FIRST and make the first tool call in the SAME response — never start with tool calls alone, never end with only a promise; simple questions are just answered.
