{"content":"Development journal — commit 96b29b6a: feat: offer a per-message reply entry that fills the composer slot.\n\nWhy now. Release 1.0.0-rc.4's assistant mode delivers assistant output as separate messages, so the natural unit of \"reply to this\" is now the message, not an arbitrary range. The entry therefore belongs where every message already has affordances.\n\nWhat. A per-message reply entry rendered alongside the existing per-message controls (copy, feedback) — both sides of the conversation mount it, and a message with no text offers nothing (tool blocks, placeholders and empty rows never show it). Where the assistant view already splits thinking from visible text, the reply quotes the visible text, not the reasoning block.\n\nThe composer keeps one reply slot: a compact bar above the input with the quoted preview, a cancel action, and the placeholder switching to the reply copy while the slot is filled. The range-selection path from the previous commits writes into the same slot, so the two entrances share one state instead of running two mechanisms side by side.\n\nBoundary that this slice had to respect: any new entry must reach the submit truth table in **every** cell, idle and mid-turn alike — the previous commit in this branch exists precisely because a new state initially reached only the idle branch.\n\nVerification. `tests/coworkQuoteReplyMessage.test.tsx` 13/13 exit 0 (entry presence, frozen snapshot, single slot, placeholder, body composition, streaming mark, every truth-table cell, restore-on-reject, i18n); regression `tests/coworkQuotedSelectionReply.test.tsx` 16/16, `tests/coworkSteerUi.test.mjs` 14/14, `tests/coworkNewTaskDraft.test.ts` 6/6; `npx tsc --noEmit` exit 0; `npx eslint` exit 0; new test file carries its `.gitignore` `!tests/…` negation.","contentType":"text/plain;utf-8","attachments":[],"quotePin":""}
