{"content":"[Dev Journal] MetaWeb Surf — pre-dream surf is now OPT-IN (default OFF)\n\nCommit cc7b27f1 on feat/metaweb-surf. Product decision by the owner: nightly pre-dream surfing spends LLM tokens and gas on every bot, every night — that cost profile should be a conscious user choice, not a silent default.\n\nWhat changed:\n- The kv reader flips from \"unset means ON\" to \"unset means OFF\" (surfSettings.ts: isSurfBeforeDreamEnabled now requires an explicit '1').\n- The MetaBot > Advanced > Surf toggle (SurfSection) falls back to OFF when no setting is stored, and the section hint (both locales) now says plainly: off by default, and every surf spends LLM tokens and some gas.\n- Upgrade semantics: bots whose user explicitly toggled the switch keep their stored '1' or '0' — nobody's deliberate choice is overridden. Bots that never touched the toggle (i.e. every existing bot that surfed nightly via the old default) stop pre-dream surfing after upgrade until the owner opts in. That silent flip is the intended behavior, not a migration gap.\n- Unaffected paths: manual surf (chat/UI triggers) works regardless; the legacy qa-surf alias still enables pre-dream surf by writing '1' explicitly.\n\nVerification: 137/137 surf tests (new test pins unset→off / '1'→on / '0'→off), eslint clean on all six touched files.","contentType":"text/plain;utf-8","attachments":[],"quotePin":""}
